    噴流が一様流に対向衝突する流れ(対向噴流)は下流域によどみ点が存在し,またその付近が乱流(噴流)と非乱流(一様流)の界面になるという興味深い物理的特徴をもつ.よどみ点流れを含む流れの幾何的構造や乱流界面は運動量や物質の乱流輸送に大きな影響を与えることが知られている.そこで,本研究では,2種類の蛍光物質の濃度場と速度場を同時計測できる2色PLIF/PIVシステムを開発することで,流れの幾何構造の識別と物質境界の同時検出を行うことを目指す.これにより,物質境界と乱流/非乱流界面との関係を調べ,高ペクレ数スカラ物質の混合過程に及ぼす流れの幾何構造の影響を明らかにすることを研究最終目的とする.
    上記を踏まえ,初年度の研究目的は,速度場ならびに2種類の蛍光試料の濃度場を同時計測可能な2色PLIF/PIV計測システムを開発し,噴流場への適用を試みることとした.噴流と周囲流体のそれぞれに蛍光波長帯が異なる二種類の蛍光染料を混入し,両者の蛍光色の違いから噴流と周囲流体との界面を計測する.その際,境界の検出精度を高めるために,各蛍光染料の吸光波長帯に近い発光波長をもつ二種類のレーザーシート光を照射する.これにより,染料が発する蛍光の光強度が高まり,より高コントラストの画像が得られることが期待される.各染料からの蛍光画像を光学フィルタを通して二台のカメラで同時計測する.速度場の測定のために,トレーサー粒子を流体中に混入させ,PIV法による画像処理から速度ベクトル場を算出する.

    In this study, scalar mixing and second-order chemical reactions near the turbulent/nonturbulent interface in the liquid phase were investigated both experimentally and numerically. As a result, it was found experimentally that the scaling law of inter-scale transport of scalar fluctuations in the near-grid region of grid turbulence where turbulent and non-turbulent flows coexist, the -1 power law in the concentration fluctuation spectrum in turbulent jets, and that mixing does not progress sufficiently to the molecular level near the turbulent/non-turbulent interface. On the other hand, the direct numerical simulation revealed that the active reaction near the turbulent/nonturbulent interface occurs at a distance of about Taylor microscale apart from the interface, regardless of the Schmidt number.

    In this study, scalar mixing and second-order chemical reaction (A+B→P) near the turbulent/non-turbulent interface in liquid were investigated experimentally and numerically. Here, in particular are examined characteristics near the two kinds of interface which are perpendicular to the streamwise direction: leading edge, across which the turbulent region (including A) turns into the non-turbulent region (including B) toward streamwise direction, and trailing edge, across which the non-turbulent region turns into the turbulent region toward streamwise direction. The result shows that chemical reaction rate near the leading edge is larger than that near the trailing edge. The difference becomes large as Damköhler number increases. In addition, we proposed a new numerical method for turbulent reactive flows which combine Direct Numerical Simulation, Large Eddy Simulation and Probability Density Method. The validity of the method was confirmed by the experiment.

    The purpose of this study is to elucidate the Lagrangian multi-scale mixing mechanism of the high-Peclet number turbulent diffusion/reactive fields by the experiments and thesimulations, and to make the verification and development of the numerical models for the probability density function (PDF) method. For this purpose, we develop the simultaneous measurement system of three components of velocity and concentration in a three-dimensional domain, and also perform the experiments for the fundamental reactive diffusion field by the conventional light absorption spectrometric method. Further, the simulations of reactive concentration filed by the random Fourier modes method and DNS are performed. From these results of experiments and simulations, the fundamental characteristics of concentration statistics have been confirmed and the useful data for the verification of the effectiveness of the numerical model (molecular mixing model) for the PDF method have been obtained.

    The progress and results of the research are summarized in the following.
    Obiect(A) Development of high resolution measuring system of concentration fluctuations for multiple species, and the measurements of mixing ・ reactive field of multiple 'species by this system
    We developed the simultaneous measuring system of concentration fluctuations for 3 species by the optical fiber with the diameter of 10 u m, which is useful for the liquid-phase turbulent mixing field. In order to improve the accuracy of measurement, the new data processing technique to obtain the actual concentration signal by using the reference signal (in case of concentration 0) and measuring signal was suggested. The experimental apparatus for the two-dimensional turbulent reactive jet was also manufactured, and the concentration field without the reaction was measured by the new concentration measuring system. It is found that the fundamental statistics, e.g., the mean concentration and the r.m.s. value, etc. show the same profiles as those obtained by the former measuring system. So, it was concluded that the new system is useful for the concentration measurement in the turbulent diffusion field. Further, the measurements for the second-order chemical reaction field in the two-dimensional jet have been performed by using the former measuring system, and the understanding for the relationship between the chemical reaction and turbulence was promoted.
    Object(B) Numerical simulations of the diffusive ・ reactive fields by the stochastic differential equation and random-Fourier modes method.
    The simulation of the second-order chemical reaction field in the axisymmetric turbulent jet has been made by the Lagrangian probability density function method (PDF method). Practically, the experimental data for the moments up to the second order of the velocity PDF are specified, and the PDF method was applied to only the concentration field (we call this technique the semi-empirical PDF method). In this simulation, the IEM model was used as the molecular mixing model. Consequently, it is confirmed that the concentration fluctuation fields for all the species relating to the chemical reaction were predicted successfully by this semi-empirical PDF method. On the other hand, the turbulent field around the two-dimensional aerofoil was simulated by the combined model of the random Fourier modes and the rapid distortion theory. It is found that the fluctuation velocity statistics, in particular the velocity spectra can be predicted well by this combined model. At present, the hybrid model of the random Fourier modes method and the molecular mixing model is being developed.

    Object (A) <Simulations by the Stochastic Model>___-
    The axisimmetric plume from a point source in the fully developed turbulent pipe flow has been simulated by the probability density function method (pdf) method. The particle velocity was modeled by a stochastic differential equation (a generalized Langevin model expressed in the cylindrical coordinates), and the two kinds of molecular mixing model, i.e., the Dopazo's deterministic model and the modified Curl's model have been used. It is found that both models are useful to predict the radial profiles of the mean concentration and fluctuation r.m.s.concentration. Next, the reactive mixing layer with second-order chemical reaction in the grid-turbulence has been simulated by the pdf method. It is found that as the molecular mixing model the binomial Langevin model is suitable to predict the pdf of the reactive scalar quantities. Further, the new generalized Langevin model for the axisymmetric turbulent jet has been developed, and the conserved scalar field has been simulated by the Dopazo's model. Consequently, the scalar moments up to the second-order could be predicted satisfactorily.
    Object (B) <Simulations by the Random Fourier Modes Method>___-
    At first, a new method to simulate the turbulent field around a two-dimensional circular cylinder has been developed by the combination of the random Fourier modes method, the rapid distortion theory and the wake vortex shedding model. Then, the distribution of the second-order moment and spectrum of the velocity field have been calculated and compared with the experimetal data. It is found that the simulation results show good agreements with the experimental data. Next, the reactive scalar mixing layer has been simulated by the combination of the randam Fourier modes method and two-particle backward diffusion technique or the molecular mixing model of the pdf method. The agreements between the simulation results and experimental data could be observed. Further, the simulation method of the turbulent flow around the various bluff bodied has been developed, and the statistics of the material line in the homogeneous isotropic turbulence has been investigated by the random Fourier modes method.

    Object (A) Simulations by the Stochastic Model
    The reactive mixing layer with second-order chemical reation in the grid-turbulence has been simulated by the probability density function (pdf) method. The particle velocity was modeled by a simplified Langevin model. Three kinds of mixing models, such as the Curl's model, modified Curl's model and binomial Langevin model have been used. It is found that the binomial Langevin model is most suitable to predict the pdf of the reactive scalar quantities. Next, the thermal diffusion field from the axisymmetric heated line source has been simulated by using a generalized Langevin model and the binomial sampling model. The simulation results of the tempareature field up to second-order moment are in good agreement with the experimental data. Further, the plume of matter from the wall point source in the turbulent water pipe flow has been also investigated.
    Object (B) Simulations the Random Fourier Modes Method
    At first, we investigated the non-reactive plume developed in the grid-turbulence by the random Fourier modes method and two-particle backward diffusion technique. In case of the point source plume, the mean and r.m.s. fluctuation values of scalar quantity show good agreements with the experimetal results. Next the plume around the two-dimensional cylinder in the grid-turbulence has been investigated. The point source plume impinging perpendiculary on the cylinder has been simulated. The simulation results showed that the velocity induced by the wake vortices gives the important role on the spread of the diffusion around the cylinder. From this time on, the non-reative and reactive plume around the cylinder will be investigated by introducing the vortex shedding model into the wake.

    Firstly the turbulent boundary layr of our wind tunnel is investigated whether it is canonical two dimensional turbulent flow or not and we confirmed it has complete two dimensionality of mean and fluctuating velosity distributions. Since KL-expansion needs multi points same time data, we constructed 24-channels hot wire anemometers of which linearity is obtained using super computer. Also we made a 24 wires probe, each wire having disetance 1mm which is approximately Taylor microscale. Using this probe the multi points correlation in the turbulent boundary layr is measured and the basis of KL-expansion is calculated. From this expansion instantaneous velocity distribution can be reconstructed and it shows usefulness to identify temral structure but problems for spatial structure identification. Secondary a stochastic differential eqation is assumed to simulate turbulence. We used fractional Brownian noise for the stochastic term and suceeded to obtain -5/3 spectrum and intermittency. In order to compare probability densities Kullback divergence is introduced and it is shown its effectiveness for the turbulence for the first time. Thirdry pdf method is applied for the simulation of turbulent diffusion in pipe flow and compared the experimental results. It shows self-similality in agreement with the experiment and it determined concentration distribution in sections.

    In order to clarify the effect of turbulent mixing on the chemical reaction occurring in liquid, the researches were performed both experimentally and computationally. Chemical reaction, simple but suited to optical measurement and selected is the type; A + B * R,B + R * S (the azo coupling of 1-naphthol (A) with diazotised sulfanilic acid (B) in dilute, aqueous, alkaline buffered solution). The optical fiber probe with the core diameter of 10 mum has been anew developed to measure the instantaneous concentrations of chemical products (R and S) at a spatial point. The improved concentration measuring system of multiple species was also fitted up. As the fundamental research,the turbulent jet of species B into species A was investigated. At first, the mean velocity and velocity fluctuation rms profiles were measured using the fiber type of LDV system purchased. Next, various statistical properties of the concentration fields of chemical products R and S (the mean value, fluctuation rms value, correlation between R and S, pdf, etc.) were investigated in detail.
    As the research on the mixing process in the turbulent pipe flow, the diffusion field of single species from the continuous point source on the wall was measured. The turbulence in the pipe (Inner diameter D=100 mm, the length of the test section 2000 mm, Reynolds number Re=U<@D2m@>D2D/nu (] SY.simeq.[) 20000, U<@D2m@>D2: maximum mean velocity) was not fully developed but the radial profile of the mean velocity is almost self-similar in the downstream direction. By examining the contours of the iso-mean concentration and iso-concentration fluctuation rms values, the spread of the plume was also clarified.
    With regards to the numerical simulation, the diffusion of fluid particle around a circular cylinder was investigated by the combined model of random Fourier modes and random flight. The molecular mixing models of the passive scalar in turbulent flow were also examined by the PDF method. To compare these numerical results with experiments, the disturbance effect of a sphere on the plume developed in grid-turbulence was investigated experimentally. From the fractal analysis, it is elucidated that the flow distortion due to the sphere is not effective to the change of the fractal dimension. The mixing process of two species in the case of coaxial jet was also examined.

    This study has started to clarify the effects of turbulent mixing process on the chemical reaction in liquids. The importance of the phenomenon is evident from the view point of the production processes of semiconductor devices, thin film, micro- particles and biotechnology. Also it has deep significance for understanding the relationship between turbulence and chemical reactions. In order to perform such a research it is indispensable to construct a measuring system which can measure concentration of each component of the reactants and products at one point instantaneously. Using optical fibre and a diffraction grating it could be separated concentrations of three species of dye solutions. Separated lights showed line spectrum at 410 nm, 520 nm and 650 nm and band width was 15 nm and each light was detected respective photomultiplier.
    The calibration showed excellent agreement to the Lambert-Beer's law. The mixed solution of two-kinds of dye was ejected from a nozzle having 1.05 mm in diameter into the still water developing a turbulent jet. The measured mean concentration and fluctuating concentration values of respective dye solution showed good agreement to the values of monodye solution jet. It was considered that molecular diffusion effect is appreciable.
