    This course is designed to improve students abilities to make speeches and presentations in English. Students will be exposed to theoretical concepts of western-style speeches and presentations, but the skills learned come primarily from in-class presentations.

    The class will incorporate a mixture of reading, listening and speaking tasks, which should introduce you to key grammar points, while encouraging the use of English in a useful and relevant way. You will listen to a variety of authentic and semi-authentic texts, and gradually build your speaking skills to be able to hold longer and more in-depth conversations. You will also improve your writing skills, working first on shorter pieces, and graduating to longer, more complex work.

    The aim of this class is to prepare students for studying English abroad. The purpose of which is to evaluate the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand standard English as it is spoken, written and heard at college and university level. This will primarily take place through readings and discussion on issues relating to multiculturalism and differences between Japanese life and other countries--especially those of English-speaking countries.The class is intended primarily for students who plan to continue their education at college or university abroad. We will also focus on the skills necessary for university abroad such as listening and note-taking skills.
