    We also found that dinuclear complexes bridged by halogenide ions, [Ag2(m-X)2(dppbz)2] (X = Cl, Br, I) shows luminescent mechanochromism. These complexes shows blue or greenish-blue emission (X = Cl, 490 nm; X = Br, 471 nm;
    X = I, 474 nm). On grinding, emission color of the complexes turns green (lmax = 538 nm). On heating at 180 ºC, the maximum of emission wavelength became ca. 500 nm. Our study also reveals that dinuclear Ag(I) complexes bridged by phenythiolato ions, [Ag2(m-RPhS)2(dppbz)2] (R = Me, Cl) and mononuclear complexes with other diphosphines bridged by an aromatic ring like dppbz also show such mechanochromic behavior.

    Treatment of o- or m- toluenethiolate with Cu2O and dppbz (1,2-(diphneylphosphino)benzene) gave the corresponding emissive dinuclear Cu complexes. Both of complexes showed mechanochromic behavior: on grinding, emission maxima was shifted to lower energy. On heating of the ground samples, they showed higher energy emission than that of ground samples.
