    Ferrous ion and a linear-shape bridging ligand were dissolved in two immiscible solvents respectively. The prepared two solutions were gently layered to form a liquid -liquid interface and progress the coordination reaction at the interface. A filmy material formed at the interface was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, UV-Vis spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy, and suggested that it is composed of metal complex wires. The SQUID measurement of the metal complex wires displayed the partial spin crossover behavior around 250 K, which suggested the possibility of the switching of the physical property triggered by the electronic state change due to the temperature.

    前年度に引き続き、水素終端化シリコン電極および金電極上に作製したビス(テルピリジン)鉄錯体ワイヤの電子輸送挙動調査を行った。錯体ワイヤ末端にフェロセンおよびトリアリールアミン部位を含む酸化還元活性配位子を導入し、サイクリックボルタンメトリーにてそれらの酸化還元挙動を観測した。トリアリールアミンが可逆で酸化ピークと還元ピークの電位差が小さい、高速な電子輸送が行われていることを示唆する結果を示したのに対し、フェロセンは1層のワイヤにおいても酸化還元ピーク電位差が大きなボルタモグラムを示し、電子移動速度が遅いことを示唆していた。末端酸化還元活性配位子と鉄錯体のHOMO準位、および電子輸送が行われるときのシリコンのバンド構造からこれらの現象を考察した。フェロセン-電極間の電子輸送が行われる際には、シリコンのバンド構造の歪みにより電子を電極に注入する際に大きなポテンシャル障壁が存在し、それにより電子輸送が阻害されていると考えられる。
    また、当研究室で開発したパラジウム触媒により、ビス(テルピリジン)鉄錯体をケイ素-フェニレン架橋を介して固定した場合の鉄錯体-電極間の電子移動速度定数の評価を行った。従来のヒドロシリル化法を用いた場合のケイ素-ビニレン架橋を介した鉄錯体の電子移動速度定数と比較すると、フェニレン架橋の方が大きな速度定数を示していた。π共役系の拡張により、表面固定用配位子由来の分子軌道のエネルギーが上昇し鉄錯体のHOMO準位に近づいたことで、電子移動時に相互作用しやすくなったことが要因であると考えられる。
    最後に電気化学インピーダンス法(EIS)による錯体ワイヤを介した末端酸化還元活性種-金電極間の電子移動速度定数解析法の検討を行った。EISより算出した速度定数はクロノアンペロメトリー法から算出した値と合致しており、EIS解析に用いた理論電気回路の妥当性を支持した。

    <jats:p>Development of efficient electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions (HERs) is necessary to achieve environmentally friendly and sustainable hydrogen production. To reduce cost and to circumvent the scarcity of platinum, the most efficient catalyst for HER, it is essential to develop catalysts using ubiquitous base metals or minimal amounts of precious noble metals. Bis(diimino)metal (MDI) coordination nanosheets are potential HER catalysts because their electric conductivities, two‐dimensionality, and porous structures provide large surface areas and efficient mass and electron transfer. In addition, with sparse metal arrangements in their chemical structures, nanosheets can reduce the amount of metal needed. We synthesized bis(diimino)palladium coordination nanosheets (PdDI) as a coordination polymer composed of bis(diimino)palladium, with semiconducting characteristics, using gas‐liquid interfacial synthesis and electrochemical oxidation. These electrochemically synthesized PdDIs exhibit remarkable catalytic performance with overpotential reaching 10 mA cm−2 of 34 mV, a Tafel slope of 47 mV dec−1, and an exchange current density of 2.1 mA cm−2 after appropriate activation. This performance is closely comparable to that of metallic platinum. An ex‐situ investigation of the activation process revealed that reduction of the divalent Pd center in bis(diimino)palladium produced a composite of Pd(0) species and PdDI, combining high catalytic activity with smooth electron transfer.</jats:p>

    Abstract

    Alternative strategies to design sustainable‐element‐based electrocatalysts enhancing oxygen evolution reaction (OER) kinetics are demanded to develop affordable yet high‐performance water‐electrolyzers for green hydrogen production. Here, it is demonstrated that the spontaneous‐spin‐polarized 2D π‐d conjugated framework comprising abundant elements of nickel and iron with a ratio of Ni:Fe = 1:4 with benzenehexathiol linker (BHT) can improve OER kinetics by its unique electronic property. Among the bimetallic NiFex:y‐BHTs with various ratios with Ni:Fe = x:y, the NiFe1:4‐BHT exhibits the highest OER activity. The NiFe1:4‐BHT shows a specific current density of 140 A g−1 at the overpotential of 350 mV. This performance is one of the best activities among state‐of‐the‐art non‐precious OER electrocatalysts and even comparable to that of the platinum‐group‐metals of RuO2 and IrO2. The density functional theory calculations uncover that introducing Ni into the homometallic Fe‐BHT (e.g., Ni:Fe = 0:1) can emerge a spontaneous‐spin‐polarized state. Thus, this material can achieve improved OER kinetics with spin‐polarization which previously required external magnetic fields. This work shows that a rational design of 2D π‐d conjugated frameworks can be a powerful strategy to synthesize promising electrocatalysts with abundant elements for a wide spectrum of next‐generation energy devices.

    <jats:p>Heterostructures of two‐dimensional materials realise novel and enhanced physical phenomena, making them attractive research targets. Compared to inorganic materials, coordination nanosheets have virtually infinite combinations, leading to tunability of physical properties and are promising candidates for heterostructure fabrication. Although stacking of coordination materials into vertical heterostructures is widely reported, reports of lateral coordination material heterostructures are few. Here we show the successful fabrication of a seamless lateral heterojunction showing diode behaviour, by sequential and spatially limited immersion of a new metalladithiolene coordination nanosheet, Zn3BHT, into aqueous Cu(II) and Fe(II) solutions. Upon immersion, the Zn centres in insulating Zn3BHT are replaced by Cu or Fe ions, resulting in conductivity. The transmetallation is spatially confined, occurring only within the immersed area. We anticipate that our results will be a starting point towards exploring transmetallation of various two‐dimensional materials to produce lateral heterojunctions, by providing a new and facile synthetic route.</jats:p>

    We developed an efficient and convenient electrochemical method to synthesize π-conjugated redox metal-complex linear polymer wires composed of azobenzene-bridged bis(terpyridine)metal (2-M, M = Fe, Ru) units covalently immobilized on glassy carbon (GC). Polymerization proceeds by electrochemical oxidation of bis(4′-(4-anilino)-2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine)metal (1-M) in a water–acetonitrile–HClO4 solution, affording ultralong wires up to 7400 mers (corresponding to ca. 15 μm). Both 2-Fe and 2-Ru undergo reversible redox reactions, and their redox behaviors indicate remarkably fast redox conduction. Anisotropic hetero-metal-complex polymer wires with Fe and Ru centers are constructed via stepwise electropolymerization. The cyclic voltammograms of two hetero-metal-complex polymer wires, GC/[2-Fe]–[2-Ru] (3) and GC/[2-Ru]–[2-Fe] (4), show irreversible redox reactions with opposite electron transfer characteristics, indicating redox diodelike behavior. In short, the present electrochemical method is useful to synthesize polymer wire arrays and to integrate functional molecules on carbon.

    The bottom-up methods have recently attracted much attention as the fabrication techniques of nanoscale devices. Self-assembled monolayer (SAM) can be a basis to construct nanoscale structures, and many researchers have challenged to fabricate multilayer systems with self assembly. Among a variety of the preparation methods of self-assembled multilayer structures, the stepwise coordination is one of the most attractive methods because it allows us to construct complex oligomer wires quantitatively and regularly using very simple processes. Our main research targets are the fabrication of π-conjugated bis(terpyridine) complex oligomer wires and their electron transport properties. Linear and branched wires were constructed by the stepwise coordination method, and their electron transport mechanism was analyzed by potential-step chronoamperometry. Additionally, it was found that bis(terpyridine) complex oligomer wires have the excellent long-range electron transport ability and we can control it by changing combination of surface anchoring molecules, metal ions and bridging ligands.
