Current state of research and teaching activities

  • 社会に流通する優れた材料群には希少な元素や毒性の高い物質が含まれることも多く、資源の枯渇や環境汚染といった問題が表面化しています。一方、ユビキタス材料と称される材料群は、一般に身の回りに豊富に存在する“ありふれた”原材料のことを指します。従ってユビキタス材料で既存の材料を代替できればよいのですが、多くの場合ユビキタス材料単体では必要な性能を満足できません。しかし、材料の性能はそのサイズ、形状、配列などに強く依存することが多く、材料の特殊な表面形状、或いは複数の材料が作る特殊な表界面を積極的に利用することで、時に材料が元来持つ何倍もの性能を引き出すことができます。本研究室で取り扱う「ユビキタスナノ材料」は、ユビキタス材料を原料に、ナノ~マクロスケールにおいて構造制御を施すことで、優れた機能や性質を付加したナノ材料です。ユビキタスナノ材料創成研究室ではセラミックス材料及びその複合材料に着目し、微細構造制御、表界面制御、分域構造制御など様々な階層において使用目的に合わせたデザインをおこなうことで、これまでにない優れた複合誘電材料、圧電材料、光学材料などを開発するべく研究をおこなっています。
